Home About Kamab Simbra The Metsibra Simbra Stud

The Metsibra Simbra Stud was established in 1986. This was a partnership between Dieter & Ulla, and Katja & Diethelm Metzger. The basis for the herd were the Brahman cattle of the Bramet Brahman Stud which belonged to parents Dieter and Ulla Metzger.

Simmentaler Bulls of the Buschbrunn -, Lichtenstein -, Makam – and Ruschberg Simmentaler Studs were used to establish the original B2 generations. Later, Cum cows from the commercial Brahman/Simmentaler herd were selected to complement the B2 cattle. Different Simmentaler Bulls out of the same herds were used to breed the first F1 Simbra cattle. The Going until here was easy, now the going gets tough!

Finding the first proper F1 Bull proved to be really difficult. There were not many Breeders and those that were there were also just in their beginning stages. We eventually found a Bull from the Makam Simbra Stud. He was A8658F1, a half-brother of the Bull Makam Obelix. Just to put things into perspective: the bull was a well muscled and balanced bull, but he was grey, had pink eyes and a long sheath.

Fortunately, the breeders were progressing very fast in their breeding efforts to improve the Simbra. Already a year later we were able to obtain two more Bulls (A8749F1 – Teufel, & BS87165F1 - Steven), we also added one of our own Bulls (UDM8848A - Benjamin). The future looked rosy, because these Bulls really did their part in getting the Metsibra Simbra Herd on track.
